The first Mon & Wed Lotto draw dates back to November 5th 1979, and was initially known as New South Wales and administered by the lottery of the same name. The Mon & Wed Lotto was the only lottery that was played in that state until the appearance of OZ Lotto in 1994.

The expansion of this lottery for the rest of the territory occurred around 2006, when South Australia and Western Australia also begun to sell the lottery.

southern Australia knew this lottery by the name of X Lotto, until May 2010 when the name was unified for the whole of Australia.

Mon & Wed Lotto Rules

The Mon & Wed Lotto rules at first glance are very simple, except for some specifics:

The game consists of making a bet based on choosing six numbers from a table containing 45 numbered boxes from 1 to 45.

In the draw 6 main balls will be extracted and two more complementary balls or extras that will determine some of the prize categories.

What are the Mon & Wed Lotto complementary balls?

The Complementary Mon & Wed Lotto balls are two extra balls that are drawn at the time of this lottery’s draw, just after having extracted the 6 numbered balls that will make up the winning combination of the draw.

These extra or complementary balls have no other function than to facilitate access to a higher category of winners of certain categories:

  • Second category of prizes if you predict one or both extraordinary balls in addition to the 5 main balls,
  • Equally it happens with the winners of 3 balls, that will have to complete their  play with one or  two extra balls to accede to the fifth category.
  • And finally, the complementary balls serve to determine the winners of the sixth category, provided that in addition to hitting both extraordinary balls, they hit one or two balls of the main winning combination.
