What is Euromillions?

Euromillions is a lottery game held every Tuesday and Friday at 21:30 in Paris. It is the most important lottery in Europe, as it  brings together the most participants and  distributes the highest prizes.

The first draw was held on February 13, 2004, in which three countries were the main promoters of the lottery, specifically  lottery agencies in the  United Kingdom (Nattional Lottery), France (La Française des Jeux) and Spain (State Lotteries and Gambling). Only a few months after this first draw, six other countries joined: Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland.

We are talking about quite a young lottery , as it was established from the birth of the EU currency Euro (€). For more than a decade the possibility of creating a common lottery for the 500 million  European Union inhabitants was being studied.

In this EuroMillions lottery, a minimum prize of €20,000,000 is guaranteed for the first category of winners, and a currently established maximum of up to €190,000,000 (this amount has been awarded on three occasions to date).

On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, new changes in Euromillions come into force. The ceiling that can reach the amount of the prize destined to the first category goes up to €200 million, being able to progressively reach €250 million as maximum limit. Modifications are also applied to the percentages destined to prizes by categories.

How to play Euromillions?

There are three important factors to take into account with the Euromillions game: The rules that regulate the game, the prize categories, and   prize and the “jackpot”distributution.

Essentially, it is about selecting five numbers between 1 and 50, and two stars between 1 and 12. The more numbers and stars you  get right, the bigger the  prize will be. It’s that easy!

When you enter the Play Euromillions section, you will see a row made up of five  columns, each of which consists of 50 squares numbered from 1 to 50, and a second part which consists of 12 squares (lucky stars),  numbered from 1 to 12.

As you can see, initially there is a line with five  game columns to make  bets, but  the number of rows can be expanded simply by clicking on the MORE LINES box.

In each of these tables or lines is the predictions must be made (five numbers and two stars). In addition,  it can be done manually, choosing   preferred numbers, or randomly using the QUICK SELECTION button that appears above each column.
Once you have filled in all the tickets you want to play, you will be able to consult the total amount in the lower right corner.

Clicking on the CONTINUE box will take you to confirm the order and make the payment, where you can choose between doing it with your previously deposited funds or with any of the more than 20 payment methods that we offer.

Euromillions Wager Price

The official price of each bet varies depending on the country and its currency. To have a rough idea, it is compared to the Euro.

Together with the total Euromillions bets, a complement has been established in some of the organising countries of this lottery: theMillion.

This draw is held every week in each of these countries with bets purchased on Fridays. A unique code is provided automatically and if the winning number matches your ticket, you will win €1,000,000 regardless of whether your combination has been awarded or not.

Special Euromillions Draws

Complementary Euromillions draws are held in the various organising countries. In some cases, with the same amount of the Euromillions bets, and in other cases, with a separate amount.

“The rain of millions”

The Euromillions rain is a draw  in which all participating countries play and create multiple millionaires  within a single draw.
The winners will be selected at random from all the tickets entered in the draw during  this special event that will take place on designated occasions throughout the year.

The “Super Draw”:

This is when the participating lottery organizations decide to offer a special guaranteed fund for the first category (jackpot), present in any draw announced.

Since 2017, two such draws have been held each year, with a prize amount of €130,000,000. From February 1st, 2020, there will be three  “super draws” each year, and in principle,  the guaranteed amount is predicted to increase, regardless of  previous draw’s value, whether won or not.

In the case that there is no first category winner, the jackpot will be accumulated for the next draw until  a maximum of 190,000,000€ is reached.

The Special Drawings:

Also called Big Friday, these are draws with a guaranteed minimum jackpot of nine figures and work with exactly the same rules as ordinary draws.

The Euromillions Big Friday jackpot fund is compose of 4.8% of the Common Prize Fund for the first accumulations after the jackpot restarts with the guaranteed minimum amount. After eight draws thereafter, 21% is paid to the Fund Booster.
